Estuve viendo los partidos de preparación para el mundial que se avecina. En esta oportunidad será en 3 países: Canadá, EE. UU. y México. Es una cosa media rara porque son zonas muy extensas para los fanáticos. Eso significa que algunos partidos se juegan en un país y, si pasan a otra ronda, irán a otro país. La verdad que ya el fútbol, como cualquier otro deporte, se ha convertido en una máquina de hacer plata.
La verdad la verdad que ya no se sabe si el mejor equipo es el que ganó. Sin mencionar ningún equipo para que la gente no se moleste. En el mundial de Qatar hubieron una cantidad impresionante de penales y eso hizo que algunos equipos y jugadores como Messi tengan tantos goles y por consiguiente ganen esos partidos. En mi opinión la FIFA debería de amonestar a esos jugadores que los tocan y se tiran al piso a llorar.
Para el Mundial de la FIFA 2026, el itinerario después de la fase de grupos dependerá de la posición en la que clasifique cada equipo. Esta edición es histórica porque cuenta con 48 equipos, lo que introduce los Dieciseisavos de Final. Al ser un torneo organizado en estos tres países, los fanáticos y equipos se enfrentan a desafíos logísticos sin precedentes debido a las distancias, obligando a realizar viajes de miles de kilómetros entre sedes.
Aquí tienes el esquema de hacia dónde se moverán los equipos en las rondas de eliminación directa:
1. Dieciseisavos de Final (28 de junio al 3 de julio): Esta ronda se distribuirá en casi todas las ciudades sede. Los destinos clave incluyen:
• México: Ciudad de México y Monterrey recibirán a clasificados de grupos que jugaron en territorio mexicano.
• Canadá: Vancouver y Toronto albergarán partidos para los equipos que avancen desde el norte.
• EE. UU.: Sedes como Miami, Boston y Los Ángeles recibirán al resto de los clasificados.
2. Octavos de Final (4 al 7 de julio): A medida que el torneo avanza, los viajes se concentran en ciudades con estadios de gran capacidad en los tres países, incluyendo sedes como Ciudad de México, Vancouver, Philadelphia y Houston.
3. Cuartos de Final (9 al 11 de julio): A partir de esta etapa, el itinerario se centraliza exclusivamente en estadios estadounidenses para facilitar la logística hacia la final:

4. Semifinales y Final (14 al 19 de julio): El tramo final del viaje lleva a los fanáticos hacia el centro y el este del continente:
• Semifinales: Se jugarán en Dallas (AT&T Stadium) y Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium).
• Tercer Puesto: Tendrá lugar en Miami (Hard Rock Stadium) el 18 de julio.
• La Gran Final: El destino definitivo será el MetLife Stadium en Nueva York/Nueva Jersey el domingo 19 de julio.
Desde muy chico me acuerdo el primer mundial que vi y fue nada más y nada menos que el México 70. Los partidos los pasaban en blanco y negro y en esas épocas los jugadores eran valientes y con mucha técnica. Ahora se han convertido en unas lloronas. Para que se den una idea de los penales otorgados en el 70 vs el mundial de Qatar, como dato curioso que refuerza mi punto sobre la "maquinaria": Argentina en Qatar 2022 tuvo 5 penales a favor, la misma cantidad que se pitaron para todas las selecciones juntas en todo el mundial de México 70. El fútbol se ha convertido en un circo. Y por eso ya no se siente ese fervor de antes. Y yo tampoco no lo veré como antes.

I’ve been watching the warm-up matches for the upcoming World Cup. This time, it will be held in 3 countries: Canada, the USA, and Mexico. It’s a bit of a strange thing because these are very vast areas for the fans. This means that some games are played in one country, and if they move on to the next round, they will go to another country. To be honest, soccer, like any other sport, has turned into a money-making machine.
The truth is, you no longer know if the best team is the one that won. Without mentioning any specific team so people don't get upset, in the Qatar World Cup there was an impressive number of penalties, and that allowed some teams and players like Messi to have so many goals and consequently win those matches. In my opinion, FIFA should penalize those players who get touched and throw themselves on the ground crying.
For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the itinerary after the group stage will depend on the position each team qualifies in. This edition is historic because it features 48 teams, introducing the Round of 32. Being a tournament organized across these three countries, fans and teams face unprecedented logistical challenges due to the distances, forcing travels of thousands of kilometers between venues.
Here is the outline of where the teams will move during the knockout rounds:
1. Round of 32 (June 28 to July 3): This round will be distributed across almost all host cities. Key destinations include:
• Mexico: Mexico City and Monterrey will host qualifiers from groups that played in Mexican territory.
• Canada: Vancouver and Toronto will host matches for teams advancing from the north.
• USA: Venues like Miami, Boston, and Los Angeles will receive the rest of the qualifiers.
2. Round of 16 (July 4 to 7): As the tournament progresses, travel concentrates on cities with large-capacity stadiums across the three countries, including venues like Mexico City, Vancouver, Philadelphia, and Houston.
3. Quarter-finals (July 9 to 11): From this stage on, the itinerary is exclusively centralized in U.S. stadiums to facilitate the logistics towards the final:
• Venues: Boston (Gillette Stadium), Los Angeles (SoFi Stadium), Miami (Hard Rock Stadium), and Kansas City (Arrowhead Stadium).
4. Semi-finals and Final (July 14 to 19): The final stretch of the journey takes fans toward the center and east of the continent:
• Semi-finals: Will be played in Dallas (AT&T Stadium) and Atlanta (Mercedes-Benz Stadium).
• Third Place: Will take place in Miami (Hard Rock Stadium) on July 18.
• The Grand Final: The final destination will be MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey on Sunday, July 19.
Since I was very young, I remember the first World Cup I saw, and it was none other than Mexico '70. The matches were broadcast in black and white, and in those days, the players were brave and had great technique. Now they have become crybabies. To give you an idea of the penalties awarded in '70 vs. the Qatar World Cup, as a curious fact that reinforces my point about the "machine": Argentina in Qatar 2022 had 5 penalties in their favor, the same amount that was whistled for all the national teams combined in the entire 1970 Mexico World Cup. Soccer has become a circus. And that's why you no longer feel that fervor from before. And I won't be watching it the same way either.
