¡Qué días tan grandiosos cuando el mundo entero parece estar conectado a través del balón! Esta tarde estaba viendo el partido entre Canadá y Qatar. Honestamente, solo alcancé a ver la parte final porque me había quedado dormido; después de todo, hasta un coach necesita sus siestas.

These days are great because the whole world seems connected through soccer. I was watching the game between Canada and Qatar this afternoon, but honestly, I only saw the latter part of the game because I was taking a nap—after all, even a coach needs his rest.

When I woke up, I was in total shock to realize the Canadian team was winning 5-0. I know Canada has made incredible progress in soccer and many other things; I would say that in the last 10 years, they have become one of the top three teams in the CONCACAF, alongside the US and Mexico.

For many years, Mexico was the strongest, followed by teams like Costa Rica, Honduras, or sometimes Jamaica. A big reason for Mexico’s dominance was that they love the sport and their league has a lot of money, allowing them to recruit some of the best South American players. They paid so well that many players used to prefer playing there rather than going to Europe. But things have changed.

In the last Copa América, Canada was invited, and you could tell they had made incredible progress when they beat Peru 1-0. Granted, Peru is one of the toughest teams in the region, but they almost always do well in the Copa América. So, when I saw that Canada had won 6-0, I was in total shock. At the very end, the coach from Qatar must have been very pissed off because he approached the Canadian coach and whispered something in his ear, which upset him enough to leave quickly.

Lo más destacable de la jornada fue ver a Jonathan David brillar con un "hat-trick". Con esto, ha igualado la marca de Lionel Messi con 3 goles en este torneo. Es un hito histórico: Canadá nunca había ganado un partido en una Copa del Mundo, y hoy, no solo ganaron, sino que marcaron historia.

Another amazing thing is that the Canadian player Jonathan David scored a “hat-trick” and has tied Messi with 3 goals in this World Cup, which is amazing. Up until today, Canada had never won a game in the World Cup, but they have already made history.

Para cerrar el día, alcancé a ver los últimos minutos del México contra Corea del Sur. Fue un encuentro sumamente físico; los coreanos han pulido su técnica y cuentan con figuras de la talla de Son Heung-min y Lee Kang-in, quienes compiten en las ligas de élite de Europa.

The other game I watched toward the very end was Mexico vs. South Korea. It was a tough match because the Koreans are very physical and have also learned some skills. In addition, they have a couple of players like Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in who play in Europe.

The game was kind of boring, but Mexico scored mostly because of an error from the Korean goalkeeper. Toward the end of the game, Korea wanted to at least tie the match, and the Mexican goalie, Luis Ángel Malagón, made an incredible save—it was like a second "Hand of God." It was one of the most amazing saves I’ve seen in this World Cup. Mexico still has another game to play in the tournament, but they have already qualified for the next round.
