How do we really feel about this new AI technology? Let’s be honest: they are quickly becoming close partners in our daily lives. For those of us who use them, they definitely make life a lot easier. Personally, I’m the type to ask a lot of questions. For the most part, the answers are fast and accurate—but you still have to check everything they say. Just like humans, they make mistakes too. I check every response very carefully because they can be a bit "political" or biased. At the end of the day, they are only as good as the information fed into them.
My journey started about a year ago. I had decided to retire (though, let’s be real, I’m not actually retired yet). It all started one morning while I was scrolling through those funny IG videos. This guy claimed he was teaching an AI class for only $35. I signed up, only to find out later the price tag was actually much higher! Still, that intro to Artificial Intelligence blew me away. He talked about ChatGPT, Gemini, and the rest. I tried to soak up every bit of it, and honestly? It was worth every penny.
It seems like everyone is using AI for just about everything now; it’s just part of the future. I use it myself when I’m teaching my English classes. I give it the parameters of what I need and—boom—I get a fast response. But I’m always checking it. It’s like students using calculators in school today; it's a tool, but you still need to know the math. My advice: be careful and don't take everything at face value.
I do get the feeling sometimes that these things might take over if we aren't careful. We humans have a natural tendency to be a little lazy, and the AI creators know it. We have to be smarter than the devices. We need to challenge them to help us become better people, not just lazier ones.

¿Cómo nos sentimos realmente respecto a esta nueva tecnología de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA)? Seamos honestos: se están convirtiendo rápidamente en compañeros cercanos en nuestra vida diaria. Para quienes las usamos, definitivamente nos facilitan mucho las cosas. Personalmente, soy de los que hacen muchas preguntas. En su mayoría, las respuestas son rápidas y precisas, pero aun así hay que verificar todo lo que dicen. Al igual que los humanos, ellas también cometen errores. Reviso cada respuesta con mucho cuidado porque también pueden ser algo "políticas" o sesgadas. Al final del día, son tan buenas como la información que reciben y las personas que las programan.
Mi camino comenzó hace cerca de un año. Había decidido jubilarme (aunque, seamos realistas, no estoy realmente jubilado todavía). Todo empezó una mañana mientras miraba esos videos graciosos de Instagram. Un tipo decía que estaba dando una clase de IA por solo $35 dólares. Me inscribí, solo para enterarme después de que el curso completo era mucho más caro. Sin embargo, esa introducción a la Inteligencia Artificial me dejó impresionado. Mencionó a ChatGPT, Gemini y otros; traté de absorber todo lo que pude y, sinceramente, valió la pena.
Parece que todo el mundo la está usando para todo tipo de razones; es simplemente parte del futuro. Yo mismo la utilizo cuando doy mis clases de inglés. Le doy los parámetros de lo que necesito y, ¡pum!, obtengo una respuesta rápida. Pero siempre estoy revisando esa respuesta. Es como los estudiantes en las escuelas de hoy a los que se les permite usar calculadoras: es una herramienta, pero aun así tienes que saber de matemáticas. Mi único consejo es tener cuidado y no tomar todo al pie de la letra.
A veces tengo la sensación de que estas cosas van a apoderarse de todo si no las controlamos a tiempo. Los humanos tenemos la tendencia de ser perezosos a veces, y los creadores de IA lo saben muy bien. Tenemos que ser inteligentes y desafiar a estos dispositivos para que nos ayuden a ser mejores personas, no solo más flojos.
